Winnipeg, Manitoba -- The Canadian Canola Growers Association (CCGA) is pleased to welcome Catherine Scovil as the new Director of Government Relations, effective July 6, 2015.
Scovil comes to CCGA after 29 years at the Canadian Pork Council (CPC). As Associate Executive Director, she earned extensive experience in agricultural policy development and advocacy, covering issues including risk management, international trade, on-farm safety, and regulatory modernization. During her time at CPC, Scovil was a driving force of regulatory and policy change for Canada’s 7,000 hog producers.
“Catherine has an impressive history of advocating for farmers on policy issues that matter to them, which makes her a natural fit to be a strong and passionate voice for canola farmers in Ottawa,” says Rick White, CEO of CCGA. “We are excited for her to join our team.”
Scovil holds a MSc. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Guelph and holds a Certificate in Management Development from Carleton University. She is filling the position formerly held by Jan Dyer, who retired in June.
“Jan has been a pivotal part of CCGA’s advocacy work over the last two years,” says White. “We wish her all the best in her retirement.”
Beginning on July 6th, Catherine Scovil can be reached at CCGA’s Ottawa office at 613-232-0223 or catherines@ccga.ca. Her office is located at 912-350 Sparks Street, Ottawa, ON, K1R 7S8.
CCGA represents more than 43,000 canola farmers on national and international issues, policies and programs that impact farm profitability. CCGA is an administrator of the Advance Payments Program in Western Canada.
