Has your farm experienced labour challenges? Have you been able to hire the help you need and find people who are qualified and ready to work?
Share your experiences! The Canadian Agriculture Human Resource Council (CAHRC) is asking farmers to
participate in its Labour Market Information survey. Deadline to complete the survey is November 30.
Survey responses are confidential and will be used to update labour supply and demand forecasts out to 2029. The survey follows up on CAHRC's previous labour survey that found:
- In 2014, 37% of grains and oilseed farmers had experienced lost sales due to labour shortages.
- In 2014, 27% of the ag workforce was expected to retire by 2025.
The survey is an important source of farm labour data for grains and oilseeds. It helps us understand the extent of labour shortages and the impact on farm operations and competitiveness.
Canadian Canola Growers Association's Policy team uses survey data to work on farmers' behalf on issues such as advocating for an extension of the Temporary Foreign Workers Program, developing agriculture programming for grains and oilseeds, and ensuring public and private resources are tailored appropriately
Please take 15-20 minutes before November 30, 2018, to share your thoughts and experiences.
