Canadian Canola Growers Association

About CCGA

At the Canadian Canola Growers Association (CCGA), our vision is “helping farmers succeed” and our mission is “to influence national and international issues, programs and policies to enhance the success of Canadian canola farmers”.

We aim to achieve these through our three areas of business:

  1. We are an Advance Payments Program (APP) administrator, regarded for our innovation in delivering the program to 10,000 farmers a year.
  2. We undertake policy development on issues affecting canola farmers, including transportation, trade, risk management, sustainability, crop inputs and more.
  3. We advocate for grower interests through direct representation to parliamentarians, legislators and government officials.

We are an Advance Payments Program (APP) administrator

In 1984, canola producers from Western Canada joined together to form a national canola producer association to provide canola farmers with access to cash advances under the Advance Payments Program operated by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

The Advance Payments Program is a federal program, delivered and administered by Canadian Canola Growers Association. Under the program, the Government of Canada provides the loan guarantee, funds the interest-free portion of advances and helps to make low interest rates on the remainder for Canadian producers.

35 years later, CCGA has expanded its cash advance administrator portfolio to include 50 commodities, including all major field crops and livestock types. Here is more information on CCGA cash advances.

We undertake policy development on issues affecting canola farmers

CCGA’s policy team works to affect change on behalf of Canada’s canola growers through our research on and development of policy alternatives. For a list of key areas, visit the policy section of our website.

We represent over 43,000 Canadian canola farmers on national and international issues

In addition, CCGA advocates for grower interests through direct representation to parliamentarians, legislators, and government officials. Our Vice-President of Government & Industry Relations works on advocacy out of our office in Ottawa.
